COUNSELLING
Therapy in Barcelona and Online

Meet Sarah
Counsellor and psychotherapist

I’m Sarah Drewer, a counsellor and psychotherapist based in Barcelona, working both in person and online.
At the heart of my work is a simple belief: when we feel safe, understood, and not judged, change becomes possible.
Finding the right therapist matters. It’s not just about qualifications or approaches — it’s about whether you feel comfortable enough to be yourself. That sense of connection is where the work really begins.
I don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach to therapy. We’re all different, and what we need can change over time. That’s why I practise Pluralistic Therapy — a collaborative way of working where we draw on different approaches depending on what feels most helpful for you.
My training includes Person-Centred, Existential, Emotion-Focused, Creative Arts, Transactional Analysis, and Gestalt therapy. In practice, that means we can shape the work together, finding a way that fits you rather than trying to fit you into a model.
I see therapy as something we build together. Not something done to you, but something we actively create side by side. My role is to offer a space that feels open, thoughtful, and accepting — where you can explore what’s going on for you at your own pace, and begin to make sense of things in a way that leads to real, lasting change.
I’m a registered member of the BACP and APCCA, and I trained at the Metanoia Institute in London, completing a four-year, in-person programme alongside a degree and further training in creative arts therapy.
Originally from the UK, I spent many years living in the mountains of northern Ibiza before moving to Barcelona in 2025. I now work here with clients from a wide range of backgrounds, both locally and online.
To support my practice, I attend regular supervision and ongoing professional development, ensuring that the work I offer remains ethical, reflective, and grounded.
Who I work with

“Often the hands will solve a mystery that the intellect has struggled with in vain.” – Carl Jung
Sometimes words just don’t feel like enough to express what we’re going through. Our experiences can be so deep or tangled that it’s hard to make sense of them with our rational minds. That’s where creativity can help.
Using tools like images, sand trays, or other creative mediums, we can tap into the intuitive, emotional side of the brain, offering a safe and powerful way to explore feelings and experiences that may be hard to put into words.
You don’t need to think of yourself as “creative” to benefit from this kind of work—it’s about self-expression, not artistic ability. Together, we’ll use these tools to help unlock insights, process emotions, and find healing in ways that feel natural and meaningful for you.
Being in relationship

You may be facing challenges or noticing patterns in your relationships—whether with a partner, ex, parent, child, friend, or even within yourself. Exploring these dynamics in a calm, supportive environment, away from the emotional intensity of daily life, can bring clarity and awareness.
Together, we can uncover the blocks or unhelpful behaviours that may be holding you back, helping you to better understand yourself and your relationships. This insight creates the space for growth, change, and healthier connections.
Trauma
Some experiences from our past—particularly childhood—can stay with us, quietly shaping how we feel, think, and respond to life. In our work together, we’ll create a safe and supportive space to explore these moments, understand their impact, and see how they show up in your present life.
This isn’t about dwelling on the past but about gaining insight and perspective. By understanding these patterns, you can begin to loosen their grip and find ways to move forward with more freedom and self-awareness.
Depression, anxiety,
low mood, loss of interest.
Feeling any of these for prolonged periods of time can be incredibly difficult and isolating. We can explore what might be causing you to feel this way and find ways to manage depression or gain relief from anxiety or panic.
Emotion Focus
Getting to know how to accept, express, regulate and transform emotions can
be life changing. Coming to see your emotions as powerful tools to be
embraced rather than avoided or controlled opens up a new capacity for self-healing.
This is especially important when
working with OCD, intrusive
and obsessional thoughts..

Life brings
Loss, grief, bereavement, illness, diagnosis, disability, divorce, separation.
Finding space, support and ways to process and accept life on life's terms is critical in being able to move on and grow.
Perhaps you’re noticing an unhealthy relationship with substances, alcohol, medication, food, shopping, sex, relationships, pornography, exercise — or something else. I’ve worked in the field of addiction for over 12 years, including as a counsellor at the island’s residential rehabilitation clinic, Ibiza Calm.
Addiction is often described as a “family disease,” and I support family members and loved ones whose lives are also deeply affected by someone else’s addiction.
